Although the vast majority of people rely on vehicles rather than animals to get around town, some remote communities rely on their horses, mules, and burros to transport people and things. In some small Irish towns, you’ll even see people riding their horses in the street!
This may not be nearly as shocking as the group of Louisiana men who rode their ’emotional support horses’ to Walmart, but Irish horses can still stop traffic—especially when they’re as large as the Clydesdale horse that Dubliner @theakifshow spotted this summer.
Imagine running into this while walking down the road!
OMG! I did a double-take when I saw how tall this Clydesdale is, but I know I wasn’t the only one in awe of this horse’s size. Everyone on the street is trying not to stare, but the horse couldn’t be less bothered by the extra attention. Clearly, he’s used to it!
“It is and it isn’t,” a commenter replied. “Yes, it’s normal to see horses on the road from time to time, but a horse that size isn’t common at all.”
Many other viewers agreed that horses aren’t a rarity in many Irish towns, but this massive stallion is truly spectacular. No wonder everyone stopped what they were doing to get a better look!
Clydesdale Horses
Clydesdale horses are best known for being the iconic horses featured in many Budweiser commercials and real-life appearances for the beverage brand. They first became a symbol against Prohibition in the early 20th century, but draft (or draught) horses, including Clydesdales, have been around for much longer.
These larger-than-life horses were bred for their size and strength in order to work alongside farmers and merchants. Their size helps them pull plows and carts, while their easygoing nature makes them a breeze to work with.
No wonder the huge horse is so chill while waiting in the middle of the street!
