Robert Duvall’s wife Luciana had shared a poignant final birthday tribute to the actor only weeks before his death at age 95.

His passing was announced on Monday by Luciana via Facebook as she shared he died ‘peacefully at home’ on February 15.

Duvall was known for starring in a number of critically-acclaimed projects over the span of his Hollywood career including The Godfather and Apocalypse Now.

Last month on Janaury 5, the late actor celebrated his 95th birthday and had received a loving video tribute from his wife to ring in the special milestone.

The montage included photos from his early childhood before jumping to current day which showed him nibbling on a sugary cookie outdoors.

Duvall shared the clip to his Facebook page on Janaury 4 with the caption: ‘Luciana surprised me with this wonderful birthday video in preparation for tomorrow’s big 95! Thank you all for the support all of these years.’

Duvall could be seen in the present day as he enjoyed a dessert while sitting in the passenger seat of a car.

A voice who was filming from behind the camera jokingly said, ‘That cookie is as big as you!’

He bit into the cookie as the birthday reel concluded with the words, ‘Happy happy birthday Bob, we love you.’

Just weeks after turning 95, Luciana announced on Facebook on Monday that Duvall passed away.

Luciana continued, ‘To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything. His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court.

‘For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented. In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all.’

She concluded with, ‘Thank you for the years of support you showed Bob and for giving us this time and privacy to celebrate the memories he leaves behind.’

Duvall began his relationship with Luciana in 1997 and the pair tied the knot later in 2005.

The late actor and San Diego native worked as an actor for over seven decades.

Duvall began his career as a theater actor in New York City before he worked on TV shows in 1960s such as The Defenders, Playhouse 90 and Armstrong Circle Theatre.

He made his feature film acting debut portraying Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird (1962).
